Don’t Forget the Outside – Giving your Home an External Makeover

When it comes to decorating your home, most people would instantly think of the inside – a new kitchen, a new bathroom, a fresh coat of paint in the living room for example. But don’t forget the outside of your home – after all, this is the first thing that you and your visitors will notice when arriving at your house, yet many people don’t give it a second thought! Here are some ways that you can spruce up your homes exterior…

The Front Door – The front door to your home can say a lot about you. Is yours in need of a bit of TLC? If your front door has seen better days there are two things you can do – you can either replace the whole thing, or you can give the one that you have a makeover. A fresh coat of paint, a new letterbox and a new door handle are relatively inexpensive ways to make your front door the best looking on the street. To add an extra finishing touch, have a plaque made with your house number or name on it, and even a new brass door knocker.

The Front Garden – No matter how much land you have at the front of your house, there is a lot that you can do to help it to look it’s best. If you have a grass lawn at the front, make sure that it is mowed and free of weeds. Planting flowers around the edges is a great idea if you have the room. If you don’t have any grass, plant pots full of brightly coloured flowers and window boxes will make the home look so much more welcoming than having nothing there at all. Don’t forget pathways and driveways – make sure that they are in a good state of repair and weed free too!

The Back of the House – If you are lucky enough to have a garden at the back of your home, make the most of it! Patio doors going out to the back are a lovely thing to have – if you don’t already have them, or think you may be in need of new ones, double glazed doors Evesham company https://www.firmfix.co.uk/doors/ are worth checking out. In the Spring and summer in particular, it is lovelyto have a nice garden to relax in – a pond or any water feature will make your garden a relaxing haven, whereas if you have children, why not build a playground area out the back – so you have the kids and adults garden spaces separate?
